Fat Salmon 3.2 mile Swim

I don't know what I was thinking but I signed up for the 3.2 mile "Fat Salmon" swim, with the level of training I have been doing I would have been better off with the 1 mile event...but I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.

The swim started under the I-90 bridge and was a straight point to point swim to Madison Park that was a little shy of the 520 floating bridge. I was little intimidated by this distance in that I have never swam this far before.

After the gun went off I knew after first 200yds it was going to be tough day, realizing that I wasn't feeling that great (on Thursday during swim practice I had my whole calf cramp up.)

Compared to a triathlon there were a lot of "real swimmers" - swimmers who dedicate 100% of there time training for swimming, compared to triathletes who spend only 1/3 of there time.

.

Well anyhow I slugged it out - never felt that focused or felt that I was giving it my 100%. I ended up finishing 18th overall, within the wetsuit division.

This was the 1 mile mark!
Uuuuugh I was glad when this event was over.
