Dance Recital week

This week was Jenna's first dance recital. She had taken ballet when she was a preschooler and jazz in first grade but after a couple of months always decided she did not want to do it any more. This year was different, after watching So You Think You Can Dance last summer she decided she wanted to give dance a try. I signed her up for jazz in September and a month later she asked if she could take ballet also. So she began ballet lessons too. Well apparently starting dance at 9/10 years old is late in the dance world so she was in a begginers ballet class with much younger girls-but she loved it any way. Luckily for her jazz class 2 of her school friends signed up for the same class-so there were other girls her age. All this dance stuff was new to me-4 hour dance rehearsal, putting makeup on her, fake eyelashes, costume and hair changes during the recital. It was lots of fun seeing her all dressed up. She was not so sure about the fake eyelashes though.

After the recital her ballet teacher came to me to say what a great leader Jenna was for the group-that she was always tunned into what was going on. Which is great for Jenna since she has always been so shy and hardly talks to people. She has amazed me this year-over coming her shyness to get up on stage to dance. She has already asked when her next dance classes will start and we can not wait to see her dance some more.
