TRACK
On top of everything Jenna does already (Dance, play flute, Girl Scouts, taking honors classes) she is doing track. She has chosen to do the hurdles, long jump, discus and shot put. She is doing great and having a good time. I got hired to coach the discus for the season. It is so much fun working with these kids but challenging as well-trying to teach 30+ kids how to throw in such a limited amount of time. At our meet yesterday, several made personal records and seeing some who had been really struggling have it all come together for them was really rewarding. The only down side to coaching is I have not been able to see Jenna run the hurdles and only got to see her long jump once. So I have no pictures, I am going to have to make George come and take photos.
DANCE
Jenna's dance competition season wraps up this weekend. They competed 2 weekends ago at Spotlight and placed 4th overall. This is the first year Jenna has been on the dance team. It has been a fun experience for her. It has been great for us to be able to see her dance more (than just a year end recital). Her dance this year has been a lyrical routine to a song by India Arie called Beautiful Flower. It is an empowering song. She is hoping to be in more routines next year, if she can find the time to fit it all into her schedule.
Next weekend she will be playing a flute duet with a friend in a band competition. She does all this and managed to make Junior National Honor Society at school. I am so proud of all her hard work and I wish I had the energy that she does.
