Spring Break

For spring break this year George had his dream vacation planned of going to Arches National Park and backpacking in Canyonlands National park. The week before spring break Jenna was sick the entire trip with a fever and sore throat, the day we flew out her fever was gone but she was still not feeling that great. I also had a cough (I felt pretty bad for the girl sitting next to us on the plane). My cough turned into a sinus infection. Jenna was a trooper and did some small hikes to some of the beautiful arches the first couple of days.

We were staying in Moab-On our second night we drove George and Jake an hour and half to Canyonlands National Park to drop them off to go on their 2 night backpacking trip to the Needles. About 5 minutes before we got there Jake said his stomach was not feeling that great. He had eaten a lot of junk food so we thought it would pass and they headed out on their hike. Jenna and I went back to Moab, by the time we reached Moab George texted us saying Jake had thrown up. It was too late for us to go back and get them so Jake had to tough it out. Poor Jake only got worse from there, throwing up several times. I got a text at 5:30 the next morning saying we had to pick them up. Thanks goodness we decided to invest in the satellite communication device before our trip, since there is no phone coverage.

Jake was sick on and off for the next 2 days and George's dream of backpacking was crushed. Luckily, the day before we had to fly home Jake woke up feeling well and we got to go on some Razor off road vehicles, they were lots of fun!

Us, just a little dirty!

Then it was time to drive back to Salt Lake so we could catch our plane the following day. We met up with George's cousin for dinner, at the end of dinner Jenna said she was not feeling well. We drove back to the hotel where she threw up in the lobby, that was another long night and lots of worrying if we would be able to get on our flight home. She woke up feeling mostly better the next morning and she really wanted to go to This Is The Place to see the pioneer homes. So we were able to go there before heading to the airport. In the end we had moments of fun and saw some amazing sights but I have a feeling we will be going back there some time in the future for George to fulfill his dreams of backpacking the Canyonlands.
When Jake was sick me and Jenna went horse back riding.
On our trip we also drove to Colorado to go to Mesa Verde since Jenna loves seeing historical stuff. Jake felt well while we were here but got really sick again that night, having a hard time breathing and throwing up.

In the pharmacy of This is the Place
 Jenna's new friend
We stopped here and went on a tour of the house that is built into the rock-it was weird.

I hate to see big plans ruined by illness. At least you still had some good moments, that would have been great if healthy:(
