Being in Canada for the race was amazing! There were thousands of athletes everywhere. There was a little over 3,000 people competing in the race.
While George was getting ready for the race to start he was in the transition area (area where all you gear is kept) he stubbed his toe-no big deal right? Off he went to the swim start.
While on the bike the weather turned nasty real fast. The wind started blowing and then the big rain drops started coming down. It got really cold. We could see many of the athletes shivering-some had emergency foil blankets wrapped around them. We kept waiting for George to go by on his bike but some how missed him. Thanks to mom who was at home in TX tracking him on the computer we were able to figure that out and went to see him on the run course.
George saw us and told us that he was not feeling well-he was dizzy and felt like he was going to be sick. We told him he all you have left is a marathon-you can keep going. And he did. He finished the race in about 12hrs 25 minutes (a lot longer than he was hoping for) but he finished.

We were proud of him no matter what his time was.
After his race he told us about stubbing his toe before the swim start and then he took off his shoe. His foot was swollen and the toes were starting to bruise.
The next day it looked even worse. When we got back to WA I sent him off to the Dr and they confirmed that he had broken his little toe. This was quite a disappointment for him since he was hoping to be able to do a smaller local race that was in a couple of weeks. So he is currently waiting for it to heal and not really sure what to do with his free time-since all of it before was spent training.
