Jake turns 9

Image
My baby boy is growing up. He turned 9 last week-even though we tried to tell him we were not going to let him get any older. Jake choose to go to Red Lobster for his birthday(he loves shrimp-I do too). For his party he decided to have a Wii Mario Bros party. He wanted this mushroom cake that we saw in a party catalog-I was not going to do it until the morning of his party I thought OK I can make this. I think it turned out great for not much planning. The party was great the boys played video games and for once I really had nothing to do (no crafts or activities to supervise).Jenna was at her best friends birthday party-so she missed the whole thing. For his birthday he got a lot of legos and K'nex-which he built all of them by himself-he doesn't even want help (He just screams a few times when he gets frustrated) Jake always has the neatest cakes for his birthday-he always requests something unique-I wonder what it will be next year. Jake asked for a giant cookie cake for h...

American Girl Fashion show

Image
On our way there! A couple of months ago I got an email from a friend asking if we would be interested in going to an American Girl doll Fashion show. My answer was of course we are!!! Jenna and her friends have been looking forward to it for so long (so were Beth and I). The event was a fundraiser for the Starguild of Seattle's Children's Hospital-they raise money for families whose insurance does not cover all of the childs care. Here are some of the pictures from our great time. I hope the Starguild was able to raise a lot of money to help other families in need. George and Jake had a boys day out-going to lunch and the movies.

Tulips, Easter and Mentos

Image
We had a busy couple of days with Kelly here. On Saturday we headed up to the Tulip festival. We lucked out that the rain stayed away but it was quite cold and windy. Not all the tulips had bloomed yet, but it was still pretty. Kelly came up with the idea that we needed to try the Mentos in diet coke experiment. our first try was a little bit of a dud-but on the second attempt we had a geyser. Quite fun! Jake has been begging to have a T.V. in his bedroom for a long time. Well this weekend George got a new T.V. and he told Jake he could have the old one in his room for the weekend (It is a huge 55" T.V.) needless to say Jake thought it was awesome. Easter Sunday-It stayed dry long enough to have an egg hunt outside-Yay! Don't let Jenna's Easter dress fool you-the rest of us were out there with our coats on. While we were at the tulip festival Jenna took about 100 pictures of tulips-this was one of the neatest tulips we saw. Maybe I will post more of them when I get a litt...

Pedicures and Pastrami

Image
Kelly came in yesterday to visit-yeah!! Today we decided we would go get pedicures and pastrami sandwiches-yummy! I had found this yummy hole in the wall pastrami place that I had to have Kelly try and she loved it too. The only down side was listening to Jake and Jenna argue over the Nintendo DS while we were getting our pedicures-but we had fun any way.
