LEGO weekend

Image
So, Jenna is off to Girl Scout camp this weekend. We decided to spoil Jake. We started out on Friday night taking him out to dinner to where ever he wanted-he choose Famous Dave's BBQ. We shared their yummy BBQ nacho's-YUM!  Then we took him to Toy's R Us and Target to pick out a LEGO set. Saturday we headed to the LEGO store where he did the "pick a brick" which is filling a container full of LEGO'S that you choose. I had fun organizing them to be able to squeeze in all the bricks we could into the container, while Jake and George picked the LEGO'S. Who know's what we will do next on our spoil Jake weekend.                                        Jake's ship he made out of the LEGO'S he got. OK, So I figured we better put a picture of Jenna in since we miss her. Jenna ready to leave for c...

Ironman Canada

Image
Well Ironman Canada has come and gone. After many, many long days of training George completed the race a couple of weekends ago. It was a long race day-longer than George was hoping for. His goal was to complete the race under 11 hours-but some times things don't always work out the way you have planned. Being in Canada  for the race was amazing! There were thousands of athletes everywhere. There was a little over 3,000 people competing in the race. While George was getting ready for the race to start he was in the transition area (area where all you gear is kept) he stubbed his toe-no big deal right? Off he went to the swim start. He had an absolutely amazing swim-coming out of the water in 37th place (beating some of the pro's) and he was 2nd out of the water for his age group. We were so excited thinking this is going to be an awesome day for George. Little did we know that at the end of the swim his whole body started cramping up and he was not feeling well. But off...

First day of school

This week we headed back to school on Wednesday. How can it be that Jenna is starting 5th Grade and Jake 4th. Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday they were starting kindergarten.  Luckily, Jenna got the teacher we were hoping for and to make it even better her 2 BFF's were in the class with her (not to mention almost all of her girl scout troop). Jake got a great teacher as well, but only got one of his good friends in his class. George took the kids to school that day since that was also my first day back to work. This year my classroom got a new teacher-so I had a little anxiety about that until I met her. She seems great and I can't wait to see all the ideas she has to offer. Unfortunately, our day did not end all that well. While I was with Jenna at dance class, George's sister called to let him know that his brother had died. We had not spoken with him in years because of the way he had chosen to live his life. We had held out ho...
